National Geographic Kids Abu Dhabi launchesNovember 22, 2017, 2:30 pm GMT
Abu Dhabi Media in partnership with National Geographic has launched National Geographic Kids Abu Dhabi, the first channel of its kind for children in the Middle East and the Arab world to stimulate their minds with science, education and exploration.
The channel aims to reach around 26% of children in the Arab world who represent the segment that views free-to-air channels. Children who view paid channels constitute only about 7% regionally. Under the motto of 'Dare to Explore', the channel will bring a variety of factual entertainment to children in the region, covering science with programs such as 'Super Genius', exploration with programs such as 'Weird but True', adventure with programs such as 'Giver' and wildlife with programs such as 'Animal Atlas'. All shows, which are fully dubbed in Arabic, have been carefully selected for their ability to deliver stimulating and relevant content to children between the ages of 8-13 who are at the peak age of curiosity, eager to learn more about the world they live in and empowering them to make it a better place.
National Geographic Kids is the first and only children's brand supported by a world-class scientific organization to inspire young adventurers to explore the world through award-winning content. The channel will provide children in the region with a reliable source of content and experiences to inspire and engage them in the world around them.
National Geographic Kids will offer locally produced programs such as 'I am a Little National Geographic Photographer', which nurtures the aspirations of emerging photographers across the region by providing them with a platform to tell their stories about the world through the lens of their camera. For the first time in the region, the six-episode program will be presented in the form of challenges in which contestants will discover different locations in Abu Dhabi. A jury will then select a winner to become known as 'Little National Geographic Photographer of 2018'.
