Hamdan Bin Zayed School hosts Chinese student delegationNovember 23, 2017, 1:00 pm GMT
A Chinese School delegation comprising 33 Grade 5 and 6 students from the Renmin Elementary School in Beijing visited the Hamdan Bin Zayed School in Abu Dhabi as part of a student exchange programme between the UAE and China.
This is the first time a Chinese delegation of students accompanied by six teachers visited a school in Abu Dhabi. The 33 Chinese students were selected by the Beijing Education Council to visit Abu Dhabi due to their outstanding academic and leadership skills.
The Chinese students were welcomed upon their arrival to the Hamdan Bin Zayed School by Emirati students who handed them scarfs that had both the UAE and the Chinese flag designs. Grade 5 Emirati students then performed a Chinese dance and sang alongside a song called 'My Best Friend'. The 33 students were divided into six different groups, where they got to enjoy UAE foods and delicacies with their Emirati peers, as well as attend classes in English, math, science, Mandarin, Arabic, social studies and physical education. The students alongside their teachers were also given the opportunity to learn more about the UAE culture through visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Shiekh Zayed Mosque, Ferrari World and the Falcon Hospital.
Ms. Fatima Al Bastaki, principal at the Hamdan Bin Zayed School, said: "Many of our students choose to complete their higher education in China, which is exactly why we encourage our students to learn more about the Chinese culture and education system through an exchange programme between the two countries."
Ms. Qiao Hua Ying, vice principal, Renmin School, said: "Our children loved Ms. Al Bastaki, since they reminded her of our school principal in Renmin School with her smile, positive outlook and passion to elevate the level of each and every single student; they even called her mother. It was indeed an honor to be selected as the first school in Beijing, amongst 120 other schools, to visit Abu Dhabi and learn more about its culture, beautiful people and amazing education system. Their warmth, hospitality and passion are indeed something to learn from."
