Taaleem held the finals of its Happiness Speakathon at Dubai British School - Jumeirah Park on May 18.
Launched in January 2017, the public speaking competition was supported by SpeakFluence Global and focused on topics such as the UAE National Agenda, the Declaration of Happiness, and KHDA lighthouse themes.
This year's initiative was held under theme "Ideas to Action through Voice". It allowed students to reflect on what happiness means to each individual and how one can take the concept of happiness and transform it into action by using one's voice.
Since January this year, all students from KG2/Year 1 to Grade 12/Year 13 in Taaleem schools participated in the competition, with preliminary rounds held in eight Taaleem schools. Students competed within their own school at their relevant age category and each age group was provided with an appropriate topic.
The preliminary rounds were held across four months, with 8300 students participating. Thirty-six finalists competed for the Taaleem group prize in their category on May 18.
The winners were:
Category 1: Zayan Omar Jafri from Dubai British School
Category 2: Ania Offermaria from Al Mizhar American Academy
Category 3: Ahzem Rudani from Uptown School
Category 4: Ismail Mujic from Greenfield Community School
Category 5: Mustafa Khan from Greenfield Community School
